October 26

Happy Halloween weekend to all my degenerate partiers. Wherever you end up may your night be filled with beats and darkness.  I threw in a little block of dark sounds at the end in honor of the occasion. Now to the music, of which there was a lot this week.

  • Two separate Diplo projects get the remix treatment.  LSD's Thunderclouds gets remixes from MK and Lost Frequencies, and Silk City's smash Electricity sees a remix from The Black Madonna - this one rumbles.

  • Manila Killa drops a fresh one ripe with 80s vibes on Run Away

  • Black Caviar and Flashmob both make use of some early hip-hop samples on the former's Freak and the latter's Bo Bo Boom.  Black Caviar samples Adina Howards's Freak, while Missy Elliot’s Work It provides a worthy vocal sample for Flashmob.

  • Wolfgang Gartner delivers some deja vu on his new single, Deja Vu. This is classic Wolfgang right here, reminding us of why he's one of the best in the game.

  • Mat Zo released an incredible EP on Anjunabeats today.  No Words EP features 3 tracks that bring his ethereal, melodic style back to life in a major way.  I threw all three on here because it's worth listening to them together.  If you like Prydz (your favorite DJ's favorite DJ), you'll dig this.

  • One of my favorite producers and DJs of the past couple years, Latmun, dropped a tech house bangerrr with his Funky Drummer EP.  Check out Funky Drummer and Trippy Feeling.

  • Shout out to my brother Connor for finding this up and comer Jaron.  Dude is making some of the most unique music I've heard in a minute.  It's not for everyone, but his blend of trap, swirling lo-fi electric guitar, and cutting leads is wild.  Look out for this kid.  Mark my words.

  • Shout out to my boy Lubliner on Gryffin's latest release Remember.  Big vocals from ZOHARA and a catchy feel-good hook make for another hit riding high on the success of Tie Me Down.

  • Malaa brings another heater with We Get Crunk.

  • Louis the Child dropped an EP that really verges on an album with Kids At Play.  The EP features a host new collabs, including Big Gigantic, NoMBe, Elohim, & Raye, as well as some previously released singles with Quinn XCII, MAX, and their hit Better Not ft. Wafia.  It's all good.  Of the new material I really like Breaking News, Space Jam, and Save Me From Myself.

  • Claptone brings home a remix of AURORA's Forgotten Love that's solid.

  • Obligatory Foreign Family love, the collective give a previously released track the official label re-release.  Check out My Hands from Running Touch. I'm sure some of you have heard it.

  • HALLOWEEN SPECIAL B2B2B2B2B: Adriatique Studies in Dance Theory -> Booka Shade Sacred -> Tiga & The Martinez Brother Blessed -> Matthew Dear What You Don't Know -> Ross from Friends Squaz.

October 19

The day has finally come.  Rufus just dropped their third studio album Solace, and it's beautiful.  Go listen to the whole thing.  Treat You Better is my early favorite.

As for everything else, here's the rundown:

  • A new remix pack dropped for Calvin Harris & Sam Smith's Promises.  The pack is stacked, with remixes from some of my favorites including MK, Frankie Rizardo, and Sonny Fodera.  I like 'em all, but MK's is what I'm really feeling.

  • TOKiMONSTA dropped a remix of ODESZA's Falls, marking the third remix of the song in as many weeks.  Foreign Family also just announced their first festival, Sundara, featuring ODESZA, Rufus, Bob Moses and many more in Playa Del Carmen.  Mexico anyone?

  • A favorite of mine for a minute now, Sonny Fodera also re-released a track from his debut album Frequently Flying.  Now that Sonny's making some waves, he's giving this tune another round - and for good reason - it was easily a favorite from the album and deserves the exposure.  Give To Love a listen.

  • Hayden James gives his treatment to Bob Moses's Back Down.  Issa vibe.

  • Two tech house lords, CamelPhat and Solardo, teamed up for Accelerator, a 4 to the floor banger.

  • For my dark techno heads, Anja Schneider has an EP on her new label SoUs, her latest project having stepped away from her iconic label mobilee.

  • A new one out from Autograf and SNBRN, Move All Night.  Feeling this collab and this track.

  • I have a confession - I actually liked Marshmello and Bastille's Happier (gasp).  The remix pack just dropped, and the Blanke remix is pretty cool too (gaspppp).

  • Walker & Royce dropped All For the Gram.  Solid tune.  Better message.

  • Taches dropped an EP a week ago.  Little late, but I always dig his stuff.  Check out Finding Strength for some down tempo tribal grooves.

  • Riva Staar has been on a tear, and I'm feeling Piknik off his second (!) album of the year.

  • BONUS non-dance track - another new one from the young GOATS, Great Van Fleet.

October 12

What's up everyone.  For some reason I can't edit the order of the playlist right now, but all the latest music is still at the top.  Some highlights:

  • Another new one out of Foreign Family. This time its Golden Features with a remix of ODESZA's Falls. In staying true to his sound, Golden Features delivers a darker take than last week's Kasakde remix.

  • Speaking of Kaskade, he channels his Redux side with his new original Tight.

  • Big disco sounds from Mercer with Studio 54 and the Yusek remix of Purple Disco Machine.  Mercer also dropped an EP that's heavy on the disco house.  Fireworks and Monte Carlo are worth a listen.

  • Mat.Joe with a bangin remix of the Hayden James hit Just Friends.

  • Adriatique made a downtempo song that has lyrics, and it's not half bad

October 5

New month, new playlist.  You'll notice I renamed the playlist to October Selects and that all of the September songs are gone.  If you still want to check out the songs from last month, I made a separate archive playlist where I'll save everything I've curated over time.  Here are my favorites this week:

  • SUMR CAMP dropped another bomb today with Do That.

  • ODESZA and their Foreign Family Collective had a big week, with Kaskade dropping a solid remix of Still, and the imprint releasing an EP from their brand new artist Mild Minds.  Listen to Swim & Weak Signal.

  • Cassian dropped Lafayette on Rufus Du Sol's brand new label, Rose Avenue Records.  Fun fact! the label gets its name from Venice's Rose Ave, where Rufus built a studio and recorded their forthcoming album Solace.

  • Keeping with vibey Australians, Set Mo has another single out today called Stuck.

  • Future house godfather Tchami takes a new direction with two new singles Aura / ShadesShades has been on repeat.

  • The house beats are strong this week: Lying by Endor.  Sonny Fodera's remix of Let it Go.  Mat.Joe Disco Ballz. Hawksburn Get With You.  There's a bunch in there.

  • Bonus non-dance track: another one from Greta Van Fleet.
