Gona jump straight to the music this week. Let's go.
- Kicked off this week with a funky new one from A-Trak. The next handful of songs are a bumpy lot, starting with French electronic producer Agoria who released Drift, a 10-track album. I included a favorite of mine he released a while back, 'You're Not Alone', as well as a re-release of an absolute viber, 'Scala', a track that was originally dropped by Innervisions back in 2013. Other highlights include new music from Moon Boots and an M-22 remix before things start to get a tad darker, beginning with an Eric Prydz remix of Camelphat's latest hit 'Breathe' and a new one from rising talent Jaron.
- The real darkness starts with Devault's highly anticipated project Jade, a 13-minute 'experience of darkness' in the artist's own words. I included all 4 tracks for the full audio effect, but to really get the whole experience, check out the accompanying video production here.
- After Jade, the back half of tracks has a little bit of everything, from disco house, experimental electronic, deep cuts, tech house, and house music. Proper tunes all around.
- Side Note: Ricky fuckin Retro is back again. I really don't know the story with this dude, but he manages to find himself in the same circles of some of today's top DJs and has amassed a huge social media presence. The whole cowboy meets tech house thing still feels a bit gimmicky to me, but I gotta give him credit for making it work, and for releasing music that genuinely sounds like no one else out there (and always bumps).

Enjoy.

April 12 + 19 2019
What’s up everyone. Last week was Coachella, and I checked out hard, but for the right reasons. Boy was this one a biggie. Musically, this one was absolutely pristine. Check out Mixmag for a fantastic breakdown.
Shout out to my crew for taking down this year’s festival in proper fashion. I combined this week’s drop with my very favorite from last week, and even managed to tie a lot of new music to what I saw last weekend. Before we get to the playlist, here's a Coachella Weekend 1 recap:

-
Four Tet: this dude played an entire hour-long set in Mojave with zero production value other than two desk lamps, and managed to create the most immersive musical experience of the weekend. I urge you to listen to his set from start to finish here. It was truly emblematic of the power electronic music can have. Here is a link to that bad boy.
-
Rufus (x2): Having seen their live show a month prior at Sundara, I was ready for a dance party. But in proper fashion, the boys delivered what I’d dub “The Rufus Experience” on the Outdoor Stage at prime time. While the setlist was heavy on the hits, they played every track in a far more dramatic fashion than I’ve seen before, and delivered major feels. To cap it all off, they were also the surprise guest in the Do Lab to close out the festival, culminating in the perfect send-off. This video captures the vibe and also features the song I kick off the playlist with.
-
Polo and Pan: Holy. Fuck. I’ve been bumping Polo and Pan for a bit now and was stoked to check them out at the festival. They delivered big time and absolutely conquered the Gobi Tent. The vibes were so on point. I cannot speak highly enough of these cheeky Frenchies, and word on the street is they have a US tour coming up. Trust me, go. Here's a taste.
-
Honorable Mentions: The return of Gesaffelstein, Hot Since 82 & Cirez D smashing the Yuma, and Camelphat B2B Gorgon in the Do Lab bringing the tech-house. And of course, Aphex Twin.

Now let's get to the music. This latest batch is fire.
- I was actually planning to kick off the playlist with this Cassian remix of 'Treat You Better' when it was released last Friday. Then I had the treat of seeing Rufus drop it live. Destiny.
-
Four Tet man. This guy is so talented. 'Teenage Birdsong' is worth a listen, and if you’re heading to Weekend 2, I hope you make the right choice and go check this guy out.
-
Two Lanes are back with another one. As always, big fan.
-
I’ve been waiting for a follow up from Lastlings ever since they dropped their first release on Rufus’s Rose Ave Records. That day came last Friday. Really like this duo. They’ll be in the Do Lab this weekend along with Cassian.
-
I’ve had my eye on Rome in Silver for a bit now. He continually releases some of the funkiest, freshest cuts around. 'Fool' is no exception.
-
Shiba San and Tim Baresko team up once again on the Some More EP. 'Kumbaya' is pretty bumpy.
-
Lotta good disco house in this one. New ones from Purple Disco, Claptone, Alex Kenji, Me & My Toothbrush, Block & Crown, Weiss, and Mat.Joe.
-
In the midst of the discoy block, things get a bit more pop-electronicy. Zack Martino has a certified hit on his hands. AFSHeeN has been a long time producer of pop-hits, but takes a darker turn on his own original work. Shout out to my boys Joe and Ed on their latest, Codeko's 'Close To Me'.
-
The last ~15 tracks are for the most discerning of fans, featuring some tech-house heat, and clubland bangers.

Enjoy.

April 5 2019
New month, all new playlist. March was a biggie with over 150 new tracks. If you're still jamming to those tunes, you can always listen to all past playlists in the archive.
Now, let's get to this week's new music.
-
The playlist kicks off with a personal favorite of mine, 'Tough As Nails' by the homie Mindchatter. He actually dropped this a few months back, but Spinnin Deep got their ears on it and wanted to give it a proper re-release. Featuring his own original vocals that tie all of his work together, this one is instantly catchy and infectious. This tune is already catching steam in the industry with The Magician using it to kick off his latest Magic Tape. Look out for more from Mindchatter in 2019.
-
Next up is a new one from Kilter. I had the chance to speak with Kilter about a year ago, and he was in the process of working on a new album. Hopefully this is the start of a lot more new music to come.
-
Turns out ford.'s remix of Kasbo's 'Places We Don't Know' was another track off a larger remix pack for the EP of the same name. I included new remixes of 'Over You' by Super Duper and 'Roots' by OddKidOut. The pack also features Billboard's 'About You' remix which I fucked with heavy last year.
-
Marking the 10 (!) year anniversary of his anthemic ‘Im Not Alone’, Calvin Harris dropped a 4 track EP featuring a remaster of the original, as well as some fresh new remixes from CamelPhat, Thomas Schumacher, and a re-edit from Calvin himself. I included the CamelPhat remix, as well as Calvin’s housed-up re-edit.
-
Rounding out the vocal-heavy indie section, check out new ones from DROELOE and Devault's 'RUNAWAY' which appears to be the first track in a forthcoming project entitled Jade. Definitely excited for whatever that is.
-
Things get a bit more housey and upbeat with Sonny Fodera's latest, 'Into You'. This is by far my favorite track from Sonny in recent months, and a return to the sound he initially caught my attention with. Other notable releases include 'Brazil' from tech-house power duo Lee Foss and Eli Brown, Wh0's remix of Mercer's 'Fireworks', and yet another banger from OFFAIAH.
-
Absolute HEATER of the week is the latest from Joeski who pays homage to salsa legend Hector Lavoe on a track drenched in Latin flare and house groove. Dom Dolla also dropped a remix of Purple Disco Machine's 'Body Funk' that's pretty goddamn filthy.
-
After these dancefloor boomers, things mellow out a bit. The last handful of tracks will be sure to please those with more discerning electronic music taste, with new ones from TACHES, Infinity Ink, and more.
Overall I'm really feelin this week's music. April's gona be a big month...
