January 15, 2021

Happy Friday. 2021 has been off to a strong start musically, and this week might be my favorite yet. Let’s get to it.

  • It feels appropriate to kick off this week with a track primed to take you into the weekend - “Friday” from Riton & Nighcrawlers.

  • Budding house star Dombresky teams up with one of my favorite vocalists/writing duos in the scene, Ricky Ducati & Donnie Sloan, on their latest effort “Down Low”.

  • I’m really loving all of these first ~10 or so songs, but want to call out Soul Clap’s newest tune, as well as new ones from Running Touch, Sports, and a fresh remix of TSHA’s “Demba” from Demi Risquísimo.

  • kryptogram is a name that first caught my attention a few weeks back on his remix of Crooked Colours. This time around, the rising producer dropped an original titled “How Long Have You Been Away” that’s just an all around vibe.

  • Cult hero duo Nico Jaar and Dave Harrington team up once more for a new DARKSIDE album. While I’m often a bit mixed on their work, there are some solid tracks, and any fan of the project should (ie will) be sure to listen.

  • Black Coffee + Elderbrook + Diplo. Kinda all you gotta say to know it’s gona be a tune you’ll be hearing a lot of.

  • A pair of bangin remixes come from Tchami who takes on Oliver Tree & Whethan’s “Freefall”, while Martin Ikin gives a techy reboot of Oliver Helden’s “Set Me Free”

  • Not familiar with Zak Leever but I fuck with his new single “Space For Me”.

  • Another really enjoyable remix I find myself vibin too big time is Devault’s take on “Nobody” from NOTD.

  • I had to throw in some proper underground cuts. This week, look no further than Franky Rizardo’s latest work “Karmapod”, followed by David Scuba & Lubelski’s “Mumbles”, and some power outta the latest Repopulate Mars release “Beauty Sleep” from John Summit.

  • Ross From Friends always keeps things interesting with his productions, and “Burner” is no exception.

  • In a run up to their latest album, Bicep tease us with another single titled “Sundial”. Definitely excited for the full body of work in the next few weeks.

  • The last handful of tracks are all pretty mint. One of the funkier more underground records comes from Luigi Madonna on “Wasabi in Camden Town” - it’s the kinda bass-heavy minimal track that I can’t help but bop to.

All in all a fantastic week of new music. Enjoy!

January 8, 2021

What’s up y’all. No time for small talk - to the music we go.

  • The first two tracks this week just feel right playing b2b and happen to both come outta Brazil. First up it’s Volac’s remix of “Distance” by Apashe & Geoffroy, followed by Vintage Culture & Kiko Franco’s take on “Desire” from Bob Moses & ZHU.

  • Ferreck Dawn has been on a big time hot streak. This latest single with A-Trak keeps the streak alive with a disco infused house gem.

  • Oh hello Dillon. What a nice tune you’ve made there with vocalist Drove on “Places”. Feel all the feels on this one.

  • Things get a bit more mellow with new ones from Poolside, Mishegas, and Jai Wolf who all deliver some great singles this week.

  • I’m not usually one for faded bassy music, but this EP from newcomer camoufly is so well produced and just hits different. I’ve had it on repeat top to bottom.

  • One of my favorites outta France is back with yet another new one - L’Impératice “Peur des filles”. I dare you not to groove on this on.

  • Sheesh. Some heavyweights outta Steve Darko on his latest Dirtybird release “Red” and a massive new one from CamelPhat & living legend Green Velvet on “Critical”.

  • This week's drop was a bit shorter than most but the last handful of tracks are all super strong, with my favorite being Nico de Andrea’s emotive “Ghost In Me”.

January 1, 2021

New year, all new playlist top to bottom.

Because the last couple weeks of December are always a little lite on the new music front, I combined the Friday 12.25.20 drop into this one.

**Note: if you're seeing tracks 1&2 from Sonny & MK up top, that is a Wix/Spotify glitch and those are part of a past drop**

Let's get into it.

  • Right up top, I started with a few of my favorites from the past couple of weeks. Channel Tres's remix for Grimes on 'Delete Forever' is hot and a part of a larger remix pack that's filled with some big time names for her album Miss Anthropocene. Elder Island released their latest single 'Small Plastic Heart', and Justin Jay teamed up with Josh Taylor for a super vibey new one called 'No Chance'. I love Justin Jay's versatility and ability to shift between electronic soundscapes and styles.

  • Things pick up a bit with Dombresky's remix of Anabel Englund & MK's hit 'Underwater'. Another couple of upbeat bangers come from Robbie Rivera & The Cube Guys on 'Everybody Dance', and Martin Ikin delivers a punch right outta the gates on 'Back In Time'.

  • Four Tet did a very Four Tet thing and dropped not one but two surprise albums simultaneously for a real Christmas miracle. Keeping things Four Tet-y, he also named every song on the first album Parallel simply 'Parallel 1-10'. I included 'Parallel 4', but for any true fan of his music, I suggest checking it out top to bottom. The second album was released under his 00110100 01010100 moniker, and is titled 871. I didn't include anything off that one as it's largely ambient sound and experimental samples, but if that's your thing, dive on in!

  • Another somewhat experimental track in a similar lane to Four Tet comes from none other than Burial on his latest 12+ minute long record 'Chemz'. Packed with glitchy vocals and effortlessly switching sonic gears, this one is worth a listen. It's at once simple and complex and very easy to get lost in.

  • Things get deeeeep and tribal after that one, with new singles that could easily make their way into a DJ set in Tulum. Channel your inner Papaya Playa Project starting with Animal Trainer's 'Verzasca' and ending with Slow Nomaden's 'Namaste'.

  • Some other highlights to close out this week: Betoko dropped a fun new one called 'This Is What I Want'. Newcomers Angelo Jsn & Staghorn's released a new one on Justin Jay's Fantastic Voyage imprint. O/Y dropped a wonky new record, 'Achromasie'. And a curious & furious new one comes from Mark huntt, Anthony Keyrouz, and heavyweights Solomun & Maceo Plex.

May this be the start of a better year!
