What up everyone -

This week's playlist is pretty eclectic.  I kick it off with some indie electronic tunes before a short break of funky beats that lead to a more traditional house, disco house, and tech block.  The playlist closes out with four tracks off the latest Anjunadeep compilation.  Let's get to it.

  • I started this week off with a new one from Aevion - an artist whose music I've heard a bunch without ever knowing who he was.  His latest "My Baby" is a chilled out disco viber, and is right at home on The Magician's Potion imprint.  I wouldn't be surprised to hear this in one of his Magic Tapes, or perhaps I already have...

  • Of the indie-electronic material upfront, SG Lewis dropped a new one last week that I missed but I'm really feelin.  "Blue" features hypnotic vocals and atmospheric synths that take you away and is the first single released from Dawn, the final chapter of his three-part concept album Dusk, Dark, Dawn.  Haywyre and Manila Killa both dropped EPs, and I included my favorite off each.  Lastly, check out new singles from San Holo and Petit Biscuit to close out your indie-electronic fix.

  • The funky section is a pretty eclectic bunch of artists and tracks.  Bakermat and Louis Futon both have new singles drenched in their jazzy, sax-laden styles, and they play really well back to back.  The homie Mindchatter has another new one out entitled "Tough as Nails" that's just as unique as his previous work and worth checking out.

  • Closing out the funk is a new one from Duke Dumont, who delivered the 6th installment of his For Club Play Only series with "Red Light Green Light".  The series spans Duke's career, and the tracks are designed to deliver heavy dance floor sounds.  I think this one fits the bill in its own way.

  • Kicking off a fat block of all types of house music is a new remix from Just Kiddin with "Alibi".  Low Steppa and Angelo Ferreri with Hatiras provide some nu-disco sounds, Leventina and Collective Machine hit us with late night heaters, Shiba San does Shiba San, and Jack Back (aka Guetta) is back with some seriously heavy tech vibes.

  • Things cool off in a major way with a relaxing block of beautiful deep-prog house from fan favorite Anjunadeep.  The latest compilation features nearly 40 tracks, so if you fuck with any of these 4 you should check out the rest.  All of the label's heavy hitters have at least a track or two, and it's a great mix to throw on for some decompression.

Happy listening.

What’s Up People -

This week is heavy on the house, and a lot more indie electronic and down tempo stuff than normal.  The general flow: it kicks off with my favorite tune of the week, followed by some indie tunes through the ODESZA remix pack, two tracks that don’t really fit but are studies in technical electronic production, a house block into some more pumpin tech house, and an eclectic mix to close it out.  Let's get to it.

  • Not something I would have thought of, but a pairing I love - Purple Disco Machine gives the remix treatment to Rufus Du Sol’s Treat You Better.  This one's the track of the week.

  • Two Lanes continue their rise with a new mellow original, Drifting.

  • ODESZA dropped a remix pack for their A Moment Apart album featuring a heavy dose of fellow Foreign Family Collective artists whom each bring their own signature sound to the mix.  Newcomers ford., Mild Minds, and Running Touch all have a feature, and fan favorite Chet Porter gives his touch on my personal favorite track off the original album, Line of Sight.

  • I want to highlight two tracks that are fairly different from one another, but that each feature insanely unique productions.  Wolfgang Gartner brings it again with Ectoplasm, and Walker & Royce deliver another wild one with Word.  Love em or not, these producers continue to stand out by being different.

  • Underground supergroup Better Lost Than Stupid is back with another single.  The trio, comprised of Martin Buttrich, Matthias Tanzmann, and Davide Squillace dropped a funky, vocal-driven track with Inside that’s sure to make you groove.

  • The housey block features some new heat from Block & Crown, MK, Sllash & Doppe, and the return of Haywre.

  • CamelPhat shows their range with a remix of a Mile Kane’s 70’s inspired rock track Coup De Grace.

  • Closing out the eclectic back end of this playlist, Jai Wolf dropped another single from his forthcoming album that further demonstrates his range as an artist.  Eli & Fur, Dwilly, The Midnight, and esentrik all have tracks I’m particularly vibing with, too.

  • Up and comer Jaron closes out this week with another track that shows the 16-year-olds musical maturity.  Venture has familiar elements to much of his recent work, featuring scratchy guitar riffs that build into booming peaks before falling all but silent. This kid is super talented, and I can’t wait to see what else he has in store for us.

Whats up whats up -

I told you last week there'd be some big changes to Boggs Selects.  Welcome to version 2.0.  It's pretty self-explanatory but take a look around.  In addition to the weekly drop, you can listen to every past drop, as well as some specialty playlists that you'll find below.  There's also a Soundcloud section for music not on Spotify and mixes I'm listening to at the moment.  Now, to this week's tunes.

  • The playlist kicks off with a blend of house on the vibier side, more disco-y material, and some indie-leaning tunes.  Mercer is back with another really solid release with Your Love, Foreign Family's Running Touch has a new single out titled When I'm Around You, Alex Kenji returns with another house tune ripe with disco influence on Disco Lights, and I missed this last week, but TWO LANES dropped another remix, this time adding their signature flair to Midnight Kids Serious.  I'm also feeling The Way It Is by Block & Crown who cleverly sample the classic of the same name, and Sorry Not Sorry from Niko The Kid and Brayton Bowman.

  • I wana to give a shout out to a friend who dropped his second single.  He goes by the name Mindchatter, and his new track Blood is a creeping, jazz-esque haunt that just seems to stick with you.

  • I threw in a couple of dancy tracks that don't really fit my typical bill, but I'm still feelin em.  Disclosure and Khalid team up on Talk, which frankly just feels like a more upbeat Khalid track, and a dude I've been following for a while from the land down under is back with his best single in recent memory - check out Some Nights from Turquoise Prince.

  • There's a little g-house section before things get techy.  Ship Wrek are back AGAIN, this time with a song that's been getting a ton of love on the DJ circuit.  Check out Soul for some filthy low ends.  Americana-techno hybrid ricky retro is back with another single aptly titled MURICA.  Kinda funky, but kinda dig it too.

  • In the more tech-house block, new ones from wAFF, Solardo, Leventina, and a solid remix outta MK on Elderbrook's Old Friend are some of my favorites this week

  • The playlist closes out with a couple of songs that I didn't really know where to plug, but thought they were still worth a shout.  First up, i_o and Tommy Trash team up for a banger with Let Me Go out now on mau5trap.  LastlyRL Grime and graves released Arcus on RL's brand new label, Sable Valley.  Excited to see what else that project will bring.

Vassup everyone -

A lot of good music out this week.  The first 8 songs start pretty chill and build into a little tech house block in the middle, followed by some vibier tunes on the back end.

BTW - look out for a big update in the playlist starting next week!

  • Cassian dropped another one on Rufus Du Sol's imprint Rose Ave Records.  Really digging this track Same Things.

  • Set Mo's debut album is finally here.  I threw a couple new tracks into the playlist this week.

  • Infinity Ink is back with a track that harkens back to the early 2010's era of house that they helped make popular.  Digging Rushing Back

  • Of the vibier material upfront, Alex Metric, Empire of the Sun, and Robotaki all have tunes that I'm feelin.

  • In the tech house section, there's a lotta heat this week.  Highlights include tracks from SUMR CAMP, Ship Wrek, Rebuke, PAX and Tube & Berger who both have songs out on Toolrooms's latest compilation album, and two new tracks from a dude who helped usher me into the tech house scene way back, Martin Ikin.   His Clean Bandit Remix was a fucking banger, and his April 2013 Mix was on repeat in my house for months.  Glad to see this dude still making moves.

  • As things cool off again on the back half, I'm really liking new ones from Landis, Luttrell, CLiQ, and a Blond:ish.

Happy Listening -
