November 27, 2020

Happy Thanksgiving weekend y'all! As we look to close out November, this week we have a lot of great new music. Let's get right into it.

  • I'm kicking off this week with a song that actually dropped last week, but deserves some attention. I listened to it when it first dropped and knew Fred again.. was an artist I had heard of, but didn't give it much thought. When it popped back up this week and I looked further into his project, it's an awesome concept. Fred creates his music by pulling vocal clips from all over the place that speak to "Actual Life" - a term he uses to describe his sound. I highly recommend digging into his catalog.

  • Zonderling's remix of PNAU's "Changes" is super dope. It sounds like something ZHU would drop in one of his BLACKLIZT sets which I'm always a fan of.

  • Hot Since 82 dropped his album Recovery that I've been eagerly awaiting. The 13-track effort has a solid list of collaborators, and I threw on the lead single with Boy George & Jamie Jones as well as "Mesmerize". For any fan of Hot Since 82 and quality electronic music, this is worth a listen.

  • Sheeeesh. Cassian dropped a huge remix of MEDUZA's "Paradise", and in typical form, he crushed it.

  • After some relaxing deep tunes from Murtagh, Oliver Smith, OCULA, and Nora Van Elken, I took things a bit deeeeper.  A long time duo that I've been a fan of, Tube & Berger, are back with a two-track EP. Max Manie drops a great remix of Klangkarussell's latest single "Follow" that gives the original a makeover suitable for the dance floor. Charles D is a new artist with a dark progressive sound, a perfect match for label PRYDA PRESENTS. Matthias Tanzmann and Black Circle team up on "Masina" out of Moon Harbour, and Romare drops a remix of "1,000,000 x Better" that's at once melodic and stuttery but all-around good. "Lost in New York" from EarthLife & Elenora and Sidney Charles' latest single "Kundun" off a two-track EP round out the deeper section with a bit of minimal tech-house sensibility.

  • Another unique tune in this darker section comes from one of my favorites, Four Tet. While not one to ever really take on D&B, Four Tet nonetheless impresses on his remix of Krust's "Negative Return" out on Crosstown Rebels.

  • After this stretch, things get a bit housier and more upbeat, but it's an eclectic array of tunes. From new ones outta Low Steppa and Shermanology, to a pumpin single from My Digital Enemy and Paul Woolford's latest banger with Will Saul, it's a fun collection of songs. â€‹

Enjoy!!

November 20, 2020

This week starts out HOT. It's also a big drop of new music, with the top ~45 songs being new this Friday. Let's get to it.

  • Things come out of the gates firing with the two new singles I've been looking forward to. Up first is "The Answer" from house heavyweights Chris Lake & Armand Van Helden. Keeping in a similar theme, the second track sees house honchos Sonny Fodera & Diplo team up on "Turn Back Time", the latest single on Diplo's house focused imprint Higher Ground.

  • Another big-time banger comes from a producer I came across a couple of weeks ago, Bleu Chair. This latest single sees the Indonesian house phenom team up with Drinks On Me for a low-end heater.

  • One of the biggest releases this weekend comes from Aussie brother-sister duo Lastlings, who just dropped their much-anticipated debut album First Contact on Rufus's Rose Avenue Records. I threw in the lead single "False Reactions", but it's worth giving the entire body of work a listen.

  • Another producer outta the Rose Ave crew, Cassian, dropped a massive two-track EP with Anjuna stalwart Yotto. I absolutely love this combo, and the productions really reveal each artist's unique sonic qualities.

  • I mentioned 53 Thieves a couple of weeks back, and they continue to impress. They released a four-track EP missed calls on Majestic Casual, and it's a super vibey listen.

  • Rising producers Two Lanes dropped an extended version of their debut album on bitbird, Lights, including a beautiful new work "Feel".

  • After Two Lanes, I threw in some tracks with tribal undertones touching on different areas of the electronic spectrum. PAAX (Tulum) drops a new one that sounds ready for Mayan Warrior in Tulum, while Vintage Culture and a bevy of collaborators take it up a couple of notches on "Happy".

  • Another big collab this week, not in numbers but names, comes from Black Coffee & Pharrell with singer Jozzy.

  • Things get a bit discoy with new music from Cerrone, Creative Sauce, CINTHIE, and another big collaboration this week between Cedric Gervais, Nile Rodgers, and Franklin.

  • One of the biggest tunes this week comes from none other than John Summit who's been on a tear recently with his new remix of "More Life". Another rather filthy one comes from CID on "Actin' Fake"... between these two, there's some dancefloor destroying potential.

  • Octo Octa's latest acid-tinged record is worth a listen as it is the first single off a forthcoming all vinyl fabric presents mix that she is working on with new production partner, Eris Drew. Look out for the full mix next week.

  • The last 10 or so new ones this week cover a little bit of everything. Enamour takes things a bit darker on the latest Desert Hearts Black release, Reality Is Poison, while new Lucian is equally spooky and vibey at the same time. There are also a couple of old school feeling house tunes in there for good measure out of Vincent Caira and Kapote & Zhut. Classixx with Local Natives and Linkwood & Other Lands mellow things out to close out the week.

Enjoy.

November 13, 2020

The end of the year continues to impress with yet another fantastic Friday of new music. Let's get right to it.

  • I've been eagerly awaiting this one: TSHA's latest EP Flowers Is here and it does not disappoint. TSHA really impresses me as a producer, showing an impressive amount of range while staying true to her sound, routinely creating such tasteful music. I really don't know who would dislike her music, and if you're not already on the train, it's time to hop on.

  • Tinlicker is an artist that consistently drops some of the freshest sounding music around. His latest single with Helsloot and Hero Baldwin keeps that streak alive.

  • I love when someone delivers a remix of a song that I've already had on repeat and suddenly breathes new life into it. In this case, Lazywax drops a stellar remix of L'Impératice's sexy single "Voodoo?", and I'm here for it.

  • Perhaps my favorite discovery of the week: "OVERDOSE" by mysterious new producer, Matveï. This one vibes hard, and the rest of his catalog delivers equally.

  • The incredibly talented Forester are back with their latest single "Falling Fire" ahead of their Palm Tree Records album debut later this winter. A strong follow-up to "Undercover", these latest two singles are some of the duo's best work.

  • After the latest from Crooked Colours and a new one from Bonobo & TEED, things pick up a bit with a new one from SIDEPIECE, "Together". Some other hot ones in this section come from Mat.Joe, Max Styler, and MK's dubbed up version of his own recent single, "2AM".

  • TroyBoi is back with his latest single "Mother Africa", a slice of bass-laden tribal trap. I always respect this guy's sound, and dig this new one.

  • Rising vibe creators Coco & Breezy are back with their latest single, "U.".

  • One of my low-key favorite releases this week is "Black Out" from Brazilian producers SUBB & Diskover who enlist vocals from Willa. It's fun and bass-heavy, and for some reason I find myself running it back.

  • The last handful of new ones this week include a bit of house and some disco vibes, with a range of heaviness.

November 6, 2020

New month, all new playlist. Let's get right to it.

  • Recently, I've been starting with a bit more mellow music to settle into the vibe, but this week I kicked off with some fire right out of the gates. Marco Faraone & Greeko team up on the latest single out of Defected,"Armaghetton", and it's one that'll make you get up groove. Continuing his remix streak, Ferreck Dawn takes on Sleepwalkers and MNEK's 'More Than Words', giving the original a pumped up makeover. Aevion's 'California Dream' and Roberto Surace's 'Something Nice' are another pair of fun dance records with some serious pace.

  • An unexpected favorite of the week comes from newcomer Lyke on his single 'Arose'. Having already released on tastemaker labels like Afterlife and collaborating with the likes of Mathame, I expect a lot more from Lyke after minting a deal with Armada.

  • Another fresh single this week comes from secretive production duo 53 Thieves. Described simply as 'two singers // two producers', 53 Thieves has been delivering some big-time vibes by way of Majestic Casual.

  • Rome In Silver is an artist that I've had on my radar for quite some time. Today, he dropped his latest EP Forever Flame on Monstercat, and if you're a fan of glitchy, bass-laden fun you'll dig it.

  • For the disco-house fans, I threw in a couple of gems from Theo Kottis and Folamour & Jitwam.

  • Another one of my favorite tracks this week comes from Marcus Santoro & Marc Benjamin whose latest single 'Losing Focus' carries an infectious vocal hook and enough low end to ensure people groove.

  • The last handful of tracks this week bring the heat. Selections include new ones from Friend Within on Toolroom, Ki Creighton's remix of Danny Tenaglia's 'Dibiza', a tech house slap from newcomer Chapter & Verse on Lee Foss's Repopulate Mars, and the latest Hot Creations release from another newcomer, Adapter.

Enjoy.
